Grade 4 Curriculum UPDATE:
The concepts of beat. rhythm, form and expression have been and will continue to be covered, reviewed and extended through listening, moving, singing, playing, writing, reading, and creating.
The students will continue working with songs containing the many intervals we have covered in the first four months of classes, all of which are found in the pentatonic scale. (do, re, mi, sol, la and high do). The note ‘fa’ will be added to the mix. Rhythmically, they will be working with quarter, eighth, and sixteenth notes and rests.
We will continue to work on two part singing, through canons and partner songs.
Playing skills will continue to be developed, with the playing of various percussion instruments, and the final unit this year, a Handbell Unit.
Hopefully, as the children continue to learn the concepts needed to become well rounded musicians, they will also develop a love and appreciation of the subject of music! - Mrs. Deb Finkleman
